LOS ANGELES (GaeaTimes.com)- Michael McDonald was one of the many surprise guests at the grand finale of the “American Idol” that was aired on May 26, Wednesday. The performer, who is often called the blue eyed soul singer, blew the audience off their feet with his soulful voice, but the critics were not that impressed. Many of them felt that he could have done way better, and that his performance was not really up to the mark of the regular ones that take place on the hallowed stage of the reality show. However, that was the opinion of only one part pf the criticism while the others concurred with the audience, soaking in the persona on stage and being enthralled by the magic of the voice.

Michael McDonald kickstarted his performance with the hit number “We’re Taking A Trip Back To ’80s AC Radioland.” This was, by far, the best part of the evening, as was concurred upon by the critics unanimously. The signature song took back the audience into a bygone era, with the voice of Michael McDonald managing to fill up the stage and keeping the audience in thrall. Next, he was joined on the stage by Michael Lynche, and together they performed the hit song “Takin’ To The Streets,” originally performed by The Doobie Brothers.

Michael McDonald’s performance was one of the high points in the episode that was naturally charged up with music, with a lot of guest performers in the stage. However, Michael McDonald himself admitted later in that he was thrilled to have been part of a memorable evening, and that being able to perform on platform as big as the “American Idol” was definitely a great experience.
