Organizers: Vegas mob museum could open in a year

LAS VEGAS — Organizers for a planned museum on organized crime say it could open for business in about a year.

The Las Vegas Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement will be housed at a former federal building in downtown. The structure once served as a post office and court house.

Organizers said Tuesday that workers are working on the restoration of the interior of the building, which held hearings on organized crime in the 1950s. Those hearings will be a central part in some of the museum’s displays.
