Demjanjuk remains in hospital for 3rd day

BERLIN — John Demjanjuk’s trial has been called off for the third day in a row as the 90-year-old remains in intensive care with dangerously low blood hemoglobin levels.

Demjanjuk is a former Ohio autoworker being tried on 27,900 counts of accessory to murder on allegations he was a guard at the Nazis’ Sobibor death camp.

All trial sessions have been called off since he was taken to a Munich university clinic Tuesday complaining of chest pains.

A doctor told the Munich state court Thursday that Demjanjuk was slowly getting better and could be released from the clinic later in the day or Friday.

The doctor says he should be able to attend the next scheduled trial session June 8. He says tests showed no sign of a heart attack.
