4th member of Midwest militia to get out of jail

DETROIT — A fourth member of a Midwest militia accused of plotting the overthrow of the government will likely be released from jail until trial.

Gina Balaya (Bah-LY’-uh), a spokeswoman for the U.S. attorney’s office in Detroit, says 27-year-old Kristopher Sickles of Sandusky, Ohio, will appear in federal court on Wednesday for his release under strict monitoring.

Three other members of the Hutaree (hoo-TAH’-ray) militia were released Tuesday until trial.

Prosecutors have charged nine members of the militia with conspiring to commit sedition. The U.S. attorney’s office had opposed the release of any of the nine but now says it’s satisfied the conditions for releasing the four will ensure the public’s safety.
