PATNA - The students of Bihar’s Patna University staged a violent protest here on Tuesday demanding elections to the University Union.

Students vent their ire against the varsity administration and blamed the state government for not taking action in the concerned matter.

The students burnt tyres inside the university premises to show their ire.

“In the university, there should be democratic elections and all students are united against this nomination trend. We are requesting the government to intervene and take some initiative,” said Rakesh Kumar, a demonstrating student of Patna University.

Students reportedly caused extensive damage to the property of university.

Meanwhile, the authorities have decided to keep the university closed for two days. (ANI)
