Alliance Data writes off fewer card loans in April
DALLAS — Alliance Data Systems Corp. said Tuesday that defaults on its private-label credit cards dipped slightly in April.
The company said it wrote off $38 million in unpaid balances last month, or 9.2 percent of outstanding loans. That was down slightly from $38.5 million in March.
In April 2009, charge-offs totaled $33.8 million, or 9.7 percent of outstanding loans.
Based in Dallas, Alliance Data Systems provides private-label credit card services to retailers including Victoria’s Secret, Ann Taylor and Pottery Barn.
Shares of Alliance Data Systems rose 3 cents to $70.84 in morning trading.
