State commission OKs sale of Verizon West Virginia to Frontier; broadband to expand

Verizon West Virginia sale to Frontier approved
CHARLESTON, W. Va. — A state commission has approved the sale of Verizon West Virginia to Frontier Communications that would transfer all landline operations in the state to Frontier.
The Public Service Commission of West Virginia issued the order Thursday. It said that Verizon long distance accounts would tranfer to a Frontier affiliate.
The commission says the benefits of the merger outweighed the risks for the state.
The sale is pending some conditions being met including millions of dollars in capital investments in Verizon to increase broadband to most of the state.
B. Keith Fulton, president of Verizon West Virginia, says the company is pleased the commission approved the transaction.
