VP Biden’s son in Philly hospital after stroke

PHILADELPHIA — Vice President Joe Biden’s older son has spent the night in a Philadelphia hospital after suffering a mild stroke.

Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden was transferred to Thomas Jefferson University Hospital on Tuesday afternoon after being admitted to a Delaware hospital that morning.

Doctors say Biden suffered a mild stroke but is expected to recover. The younger Biden was fully alert and speaking, according to the doctor who treated him in Delaware.

The vice president gave a thumbs-up sign to reporters as his motorcade left the Philadelphia hospital Tuesday night.

Forty-one-year-old Beau Biden returned last year from a yearlong deployment to Iraq with his Army National Guard unit.
