Blockbuster DVD kiosks coming to Kwik Trip stores

DULUTH, Ga. — Blockbuster’s DVD rental vending machines will show up in more than 300 Kwik Trip convenience stores in Iowa, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

NCR Corp., the company that operates the rental kiosks for Blockbuster Inc., said Wednesday it is planning the expansion. The company has said it will have more than 10,000 kiosks across the country operating by the middle of the year.

It’s part of Blockbuster’s effort to catch up with Redbox, the Coinstar Inc. subsidiary that pioneered $1-per-night rentals from vending machines.

Blockbuster shares fell a penny to 42.8 cents in afternoon trading. NCR shares were up 28 cents, or 2.3 percent, to $12.49.
