Moms of 3 Americans jailed in Iran wait for visas

MINNEAPOLIS — Three women whose adult children are jailed in Iran have their bags packed and ready to go.

They’re waiting for the moment they get the all-clear that they can go visit their children.

Iran’s foreign minister said on state television Monday that the Iranian government has ordered visas for the mothers to be issued on humanitarian grounds.

The three women are excited but cautious. The don’t want to count on making the trip until they receive official word they can pick up their visas.

Their children are Josh Fattal, Shane Bauer and Sarah Shourd. The three were arrested along the Iraqi border in July.

Iran has accused them of spying. Their families and the U.S. government have denied that accusation.
