Officials at the U.S. Secret Service have reportedly begun an investigation after actor-turned-White House aide KAL PENN was robbed at gunpoint in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday (20Apr10).

The star, who serves as President Barack Obama’s Associate Director in the Office of Public Engagement, was left shaken after he was forced to lie on the ground and hand over personal belongings, including two cell phones.

One of the devices is said to have been government-issued, and as a result, Secret Service agents have joined the D.C. Metro Police Department to find the offender.

Penn alerted White House authorities after the incident and had the phone’s service ended. TMZ.com reports that “no information was compromised because no official numbers were in the phone”.
