Perot: Time will show tea party effect on country

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Texas billionaire and two-time presidential candidate Ross Perot says the national tea party movement seems to be well organized but that time will tell how it will affect the country, government and November elections.

The former Reform Party candidate said Tuesday that some of the nation’s problems would have been less severe if more people had listened to him in the 1990s. He says it’s not too late to fix those problems but that solutions can’t be rushed.

Perot was speaking at the Army’s Command and General Staff College Foundation in Kansas City, Mo., where he was receiving a leadership award. The foundation supports the college at Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Perot recently pledged $6.1 million to a private foundation to pay for programs at the college.
