Honeywell awarded $49M contract for weather radar

PHOENIX — Honeywell International said Monday that the National Weather Service has awarded it a $49 million contract to upgrade radar for the National Weather Service.

Honeywell will work on radar systems that track wind to provide more accurate predictions of storms. The project is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Profiler Network. NOAA oversees the National Weather Service.

Work was scheduled to begin this month in Longmont, Colo.
