PORT ARANSAS, Texas — Authorities say a skydiver who died after crashing through the roof of a Texas condominium was a 34-year-old Hungarian national.

Port Aransas police say Peter Gerencser died Thursday after falling through the roof of the Gulfside Beach Condos. Police say he was preparing to land after photographing skydiving tandems when his parachute collapsed and he crashed through the roof.

A Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman has said the experienced skydiver survived the initial impact but later died of his injuries. No other injuries were reported.

Gerencser was working for Sky Dive Atlas of Gardner, N.Y.

A spokesman for Sky Dive Atlas says Gerencser had made more than 10,000 jumps and jumped with nine other skydivers from 14,000 feet Thursday.
