Madonna, design house team up for suglasses line
NEW YORK — Madonna and her manager will create a new line of sunglasses with designer duo Dolce and Gabbana, making the first-ever cobranded collaboration for the Italian couture fashion house.
The eyewear line, called MDG, is part of MG Icon, a joint venture between the pop star, her manager Guy Oseary and Iconix Brand Group Inc.
Last week, MG Icon announced a deal with Macy’s for an exclusive new line of teen clothing, designed by Madonna and her daughter, that will be in 200 stores and online in August.
The sunglasses collection, manufactured by Luxottica, will cost between $248 and $289 and be on sale at Dolce & Gabbana stores. They’ll also be sold at Luxottica Group’s Sunglass Hut chain and at other eyewear shops.
The collection will debut in May.
Iconix Brand shares rose 12 cents to close at $15.37 in afternoon trading Wednesday. Luxottica shares lost 9 cents to close at $26.52.
