SAN RAMON, Calif. — Chevron Corp. said Thursday that executive vice president Charles James, who guides legal strategy for the nation’s second-largest oil and gas producer, will leave the company May 2 as part of a planned transition.
James, a former U.S. assistant attorney general who spent eight years with Chevron, plans to teach law at Arizona State University, the company said. He will be succeeded by general counsel R. Hewitt Pate.
Chevron shares fell 57 cents to $71.77 in afternoon trading.
