La Paz, Feb 16 (IANS/EFE) A woman gave birth on a flight from Bolivia’s southern town of Tarija to La Paz, a media report said.
The woman was helped by flight attendants and a doctor travelling on the same plane, La Razon daily said Monday.
A co-passenger on TAM Flight 775, told the newspaper that the woman gave birth at 7.00 p.m. Sunday on the last leg of the flight.
“We saw the flight attendants and a passenger who said he was a doctor rushing to see what was the matter with the lady. Minutes later she was lying down in the aisle of the aircraft. We all thought she was just suffering from intense pain,” Willy Arismendi said.
The flight attendants told the passengers to remain in their seats and 10 minutes later the woman gave birth to a baby girl, just before the plane landed at El Alto International Airport.
An ambulance that was waiting for the plane on the air terminal runway took the woman and her newborn baby to a hospital.
