People unaccounted for in Pa. rink roof collapse
ROSTRAVER, Pa. — An emergency official says there are people unaccounted for following a partial roof collapse at a suburban Pittsburgh ice rink.
The director of operations for Rostraver West Newton Emergency Services says everyone who got out of the Westmoreland County rink is OK. But director Mike Stangroom says crews are searching the building with cadaver dogs.
Stangroom says he doesn’t know how many people were in the Rostraver Ice Garden when a 100-by-200-foot section of it collapsed Sunday afternoon.
He says a youth hockey tournament between U.S. and Canadian teams was being held at the rink, about 30 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.
The cause of the collapse hasn’t been determined.
