Kerrigan family ask for privacy after dad’s death

STONEHAM, Mass. — The family of figure skater Nancy Kerrigan has asked for privacy following the death of her father and an assault charge lodged against her brother.

A brief statement issued by the family Monday calls Daniel Kerrigan a “wonderful husband” and “a caring and loving father.”

The statement does not mention the charge against Mark Kerrigan, who is accused of assaulting his father early Sunday in the family’s suburban Boston home. Police found Daniel Kerrigan unconscious and an autopsy to determine cause of death is pending.

The statement says the family is focused on “mourning Dan and honoring his life and many contributions.” It asks that the family’s privacy be respected.

Nancy Kerrigan arrived at the family’s home Monday afternoon and left a couple of hours later.
