Volz named AP Helena supervisory correspondent

HELENA, Mont. — Matt Volz, an editor for The Associated Press’ supervisory desk in New York City, has been promoted to supervisory correspondent in Helena.

The appointment was announced Thursday by Jim Clarke, chief of bureau for Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming.

Volz joined the AP in 2002 in Jackson, Miss., transferred to Anchorage in 2004 and was promoted to Juneau correspondent the next year. He transferred to the AP’s New York headquarters at the end of 2006, where he was an editor on the national desk, the international desk and the supervisor desk.

Volz, a native of Mandeville, La., previously worked at The News Banner of Covington, La., and New Orleans City Business. He is a graduate of the University of Richmond and holds a master’s degree in journalism from Columbia University.
