Humana donating $100,000 million to Haiti efforts
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Health insurer Humana Inc. said Thursday it is donating $100,000 to Haiti relief efforts, along with a matching contribution plan, after the worst earthquake there in more than two centuries destroyed a large swath of the country.
The company said it is making the donation through its philanthropic arm, The Humana Foundation. The American Red Cross will receive $50,000, Save the Children will receive $25,000, and Doctors Without Borders will receive $25,000.
It will also match contributions from associates on a dollar-for-dollar basis, up to $50,000, to each of the listed organizations, for a total possible donation match of $150,000.
