PESHAWAR - The assembly of Pakistan’s North West Frontier Province has passed an unanimous resolution, asking the federal government to tell Washington to immediately stop screening Pakistani citizens at US airports.

The Daily Times quoted Leader of Opposition Akram Khan Durani as saying that the screening process was a violation of human rights and that American officials were humiliating Pakistani citizen at their airports without any reason.

“The screening of Pakistani citizens should be stopped forthwith,” said Durani, who is also the parliamentary leader of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

Saqib Khan Chamkani of the ANP pointed out that Pakistani ambassador to the US and other officials have already condemned the screening of Pakistani citizens.

Chamkani said Pakistan should also screen US citizens if Washington continues its discriminatory practice.

“And if they (Americans) continue this screening practice, we should do the same,” he said.

Earlier, Durani said the full-body patting down of Pakistanis at US airports was damaging the country’s reputation, while US citizens were coming to Pakistan without visas and violating Pakistani laws.

He also proposed a boycott of US products in the NWFP. (ANI)
