Police end search for missing 4-year-old NY boy
NEWBURGH, N.Y. — Police have called off the search for a 4-year-old New York boy who has been missing for three weeks.
Marc Anthony Bookal was last seen Dec. 14.
Authorities say they’ve covered everywhere they wanted to search in the city of Newburgh, including the boy’s neighborhood and the nearby Hudson River shoreline. City detectives and state police continue to investigate.
The boy lived with his mother and her boyfriend. Police say the boyfriend, Cory Byrd, was caring for the boy when he disappeared from the family’s apartment in Newburgh, about 60 miles north of New York City.
The 30-year-old Byrd has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child and with a parole violation. He’s being held in the Orange County Jail.
Police aren’t calling Byrd a suspect.
