Afghan police say a provincial councilman in Baghlan province killed in ambush

Afghan police: Baghlan councilman killed

KABUL — Afghan police say a member of the provincial council in Baghlan province has been killed by militants.

Provincial police chief Gen. Kabir Andarabi said Wednesday that the councilman, Yunos Shirnagha, was ambushed Tuesday night as he was returning home from visiting a friend.

The police chief says the councilman’s driver also was killed and one of his friends was wounded.
