CHICAGO (GaeaTimes.com)- Chicagoans are indeed having a tough time braving the aftermath of the blizzard that has lashed the city since Tuesday evening. To make matters worse, the blizzard posed a potential threat when it caused a piece of the roof of the famous Wrigley Field to fall seizing officials with panic who later on decided to close the streets adjacent to the stadium.

Wrigley Field which is the home ground for the Chicago Cubs caused a major concern for the Chicago Cubs officials who went through a harrowing time in their attempt for ensuring that no passers-by is affected by due to any kind of harm that the blizzard may still do to the 97 year old building. Around 5:30 p.m in the evening authorities chose to shut down streets between Clark Street between Grace and Roscoe streets and Addison Street between Sheffield and Racine avenues. It was decided that the Wrigley Field will remain closed for car parking and pedestrians. According to sources, the portion of the roof that was blown away by the severe winds is one just above the press-box. The roof portion was made of fiber board.

Emergency management spokesperson Roderick Drew said that the part of the building was blown away after Tuesday evening’s major blizzard hit the building. Considering the high speed that the stormy winds had in them, it was not unnatural for it to cause any harm to the Wrigley Field that has remained the home ground of the Chicago Cubs for so long. The weather is yet to show signs of improvement, until which the streets are expected to remain closed.
