Scholarships to Malaysians for traditional medicine studies in India

KUALA LUMPUR - The Indian Government is offering 20 scholarships to Malaysians wanting to pursue traditional medicine courses in India for the academic year 2011/12 onwards.

The decision follows the visit of Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in October 2010.

“The High Commission welcomes applications from interested Malaysian nationals who wish to pursue Traditional System of Medicine courses,” the India High Commission said in a statement on Tuesday.

Eleven scholarships will be offered for the Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS), five for the Bachelor of Siddha Medicine and Sciences (BSMS), two for the Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery (BUMS) and two for the Bachelor of Homeopathy Medicine and Surgery (BHMS), The Star reports.

The scholarships will be offered for studies in selected colleges and application forms are available at the Education Section of the High Commission of India here.

The candidates should check on their eligibility for the course they wish to pursue, should be proficient in English and should not have any serious health problem. (ANI)
