San Diego Union-Tribune names new editor
SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Union-Tribune has named a new editor.
The newspaper’s publisher said Thursday that Jeff Light will start work March 8 as editor and vice president after 17 years with the Orange County Register.
Union-Tribune President and Publisher Ed Moss says Light will bring his experience in both print and online journalism to the job.
Light joined the Register in 1993 and is a vice president of interactive content and product development.
He previously served as deputy editor of the paper’s Web site and managed investigative teams. He was member of the Register staff that won a Pulitzer Prize in 1996.
He succeeds Karin Winner, who retired last year after 34 years with the Union-Tribune.
