COLOMBO - : More than 100 Indian fishermen have been detained in Sri Lanka on Tuesday for allegedly straying into the Lankan waters.
The Indian fishermen were intercepted by the Sri Lankan fishermen off the coast of Point pedro and later they were handed over to the Sri Lankan police.
The fishermen will be produced in the court of Jaffna on Wednseday.
This latest round of controversy will hit the festering fishermen issue between India and Sri Lanka and could trigger a diplomatic row.
The Indian consular general office in Jaffna has been granted access to the arrested fishermen and is in touch with them for their early release.(ANI)
