Valentine’s Day fever ensures brisk flower business in Varanasi

VARANASI - Valentine’s Day fever has gripped the city of Varanasi again.holesalers of flowers, in particular are doing brisk business.

Ram Prasad, a wholesaler, said “On Valentine’s Day, we see bumper sale as most of our flowers are sold out in the market.”

For several florists, the occasion is an opportunity to make profit. The price of flowers is generally high.

Praveen, a florist, said: “Red roses are liked the most, as it is a symbol of love. The yellow ones are symbol of friendship. So, red and yellow flowers are in demand”

The history of giving flowers during Valentine’s Day comes from the old-fashioned custom of sending floral bouquets to pass on non-verbal messages.

Valentine’s day is celebrated in remembrance of St. Valentine. (ANI)
