BANER - Maharashtra Police defused a live bomb in Pune’s Baner area on Friday.

The bomb was found inside a hotel named Pancard Club.

According to club officials, the bomb was found kept inside an earthen vessel inside the hotel.

Senior Police Inspector Bhimrao Tole said the bomb detection and disposal squad had safely recovered the bomb and set it off in a remote location.

“We received a call at 9.30 in the morning about the suspected bag. BDDS (Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad) team arrived and checked and they brought the bag at remote place. There they verified it and found that there was no explosive or detonator. BDDS team have blasted it by safe charge,” said Tole.

Police officials further said that investigations are on into the matter.

Pune witnessed a militant attack last year when the city’s popular German Bakery restaurant was rocked by a bomb blast on February 13, in which 17 people were killed and more than 60 were injured. (ANI)
