Opium worth millions seized in Awantipora

AWANTIPORA - Eleven quintals of opium, estimated to be worth millions has been seized from Awantipora in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwana District.

The Superintendent of Police, Muhammad Irshad said, “We have recovered 11 quintals Fuki (Opium) that was bought from several people. The place from where we seized was just some distance away from the location it was loaded. They bought it from different villages. We have recovered some phone numbers as well as other details and it is under investigation,”

“As per our information, at least 12 more people are involved in the case, who are yet to be arrested”, he added.

A man responsible for smuggling poppy to Punjab has been arrested. (ANI)
