SRINAGAR - A moderate intensity tremor rocked the Kashmir Valley Wednesday morning, but no loss of life or property has been reported, an official said.
“A moderate intensity earthquake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, rocked the valley at 10.07 this morning,” an official of the local weather office told IANS here.
The epicentre of the quake lay somewhere in northwest Kashmir, he added.
In 2005, an earthquake measuring 7.8 on the Richter scale killed over 40,000 people in both India and Pakistan-administered Kashmir, with Muzaffarabad across the Line of Control in Kashmir being the worst hit.
