Brian Jacques Dies At 71

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND (GaeaTimes.com)- The literary world lost one of its gems over the weekend when British writer Brian Jacques succumbed to cardiac arrest and passed away at a Liverpool based medical facility. The prominent writer who is best known for writing the ‘Redwall’ series of novels, breathed his last at the Royal Liverpool Hospital where he was admitted after suffering a heart attack. According to reports, Brian Jacques was hospitalized over the weekend to undergo an emergency operation for an aortic aneurysm but all the efforts to save him failed to yield any results as the noted author left for the heavenly abode on Saturday.

The demise of Brian Jacques is indeed a huge loss to the world of children’s book as the British author was considered to be one of the most prominent writers of books for the younger minds. His books which has sold millions in countries all over the world, focused on epic stories of good winning over the evil which was always successful in leaving his young readers mesmerized. Although Brian Jacques attained wide acclaim for many of his literary works, he won the maximum accolades for his ‘Redwall’ series of novels that has sold a staggering 20 million copies all over the world and at the same time, has been translated to 29 different languages. Over the years, the British author penned down 21 novels in the ‘Redwall’ series.

The news of Brian Jacques‘ death has left his fervent readers rather saddened many of whom consider his demise to be a major loss to the literary scenario. The 71-year-old author is survived by his wife and two sons.
