STORY: Muthuvel Karunanidhi, chief minister of India’s southern state of Tamil Nadu and head of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), arrived in national capital on Sunday (January 30).
The regional leader was welcomed by enthusiastic DMK activists at the airport, who cheered and waved the party flags as his convoy crossed them.
Karunanidhi would be attending the chief minister’s conference on internal security on Tuesday (February 01).
The chief minister might meet Sonia Gandhi, chief of India’s ruling Congress party and Manmohan Singh, Indian Prime Minister to discuss sharing of seats for the upcoming elections in his state.
Karunanidhi is accompanied by some members of his state cabinet.
Tamil Nadu state assembly election is scheduled for this year.
