US official to be produced in court today on charges of killing two Pakistanis in Lahore

LAHORE - US consulate worker Raymond Davis will be produced in a Pakistan court on the charges of shooting dead two Pakistani men in a busy market in Lahore.

On Thursday, three people were killed when the American national opened fire on motorcycle riders and hit another with his car in an attempt to escape from the scene at Mazang Chowk.

Both the injured were shifted to Services Hospital where they were pronounced dead, while the third motorcyclist, who was also injured when hit by the speeding car, succumbed to his wounds during treatment in Services Hospital.

Later, the US suspect was apprehended by police and taken to Old Anarkali police station. Police also recovered arms from his possession, and later shifted him to an unknown location.

Police sources told the media that an FIR had been lodged against Davis under Section 48/11 after the incident, Geo TV reported.

The accused consular employee will be presented today before a civil judge in a Town court.

According to the report, the US consulate vehicle that was used in Mazang Chowke incident in Lahore carried a fake number plate.

Sources said the car, which knocked down a youth, who was identified as Abadur Rehman, had LZN6970 as its registration number. As per the investigations, the actual car registered under this number was owned by Sufi Munawwar Hussain, a resident of Sahiwal district. (ANI)
