Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Remembered On Birth Anniversary

KOLKATA, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- States across the nation are celebrating the 114th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose today. With people across the country paying their tribute to the enigmatic leader, celebrations in his hometown, Kolkata has not been any less. The West Bengal government has declared that January 23, the birth anniversary of Netaji would be observed as the ‘Desh Prem Divas’ every year from now on. Earlier this month, Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee had made the proposal that the birth anniversary of the iconic freedom fighter would be commemorated by celebrating ‘Desh Prem Divas’ across the state.

It has been reported that the West Bengal Chief Minister has ordered the district magistrates to take all the necessary actions to ensure that the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose is celebrated in a befitting manner by the respective administration. With schools, colleges remaining closed on the day, various programs are organized across the state every year to mark Netaji’s birth anniversary. While the leaders in West Bengal across political parties paying their tribute to Netaji, Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh as well as a host of other noted dignitaries paid their floral homage to the portrait of the esteemed leader at the Central Hall of Parliament.

Meanwhile, this year, the 114th birth anniversary celebrations of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was all the more special at the Netaji Research Bureau where Infosys founder N R Narayana Murthy delivered the Netaji oration on Sunday. While describing Netaji as the most courageous leader of his era, the entrepreneur emphasized that the enigmatic leader had not been bestowed with the due respect that he deserved in the country.
