LONDON - Rachel Uchitel made an emotional visit to Ground Zero as part of her stint in VH1’s Celebrity Rehab, and wrote a final farewell letter to her fiance who was killed during the 9/11 disaster.
Uchitel, 35, was taken by the show’s Dr Drew to Ground Zero where her investment banker fiance Andy O’Grady had been killed as the South Tower collapsed in the 2001 terrorist outrage. rom scenes filmed last August, Uchitel, who was being treated on the show for “deep emotional issues”, was seen talking to others who’d lost loved ones in the tragedy.
In emotional scenes broadcast on the show’s season finale, Uchitel was seen fighting back tears as she put the letter in a bottle and hurled it into the waters, near where O’Grady had proposed to her.
“Doing this show ‘Celebrity Rehab’ was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made,” the Daily Mail quoted Uchitel as saying.
“It has given me an opportunity to deal with some major trauma I’ve held onto for years. Nothing about it was a ’show’ for me,” she stated.
Uchitel was apparently paid 500,000 dollars to appear, double the amount initially offered to her by producers. (ANI)
