Florida community website targeted by Iranian hackers

FLORIDA - Pro-Iranian hackers have targeted the website of a beach community in Florida.
The website for Hilllsboro Beach displayed a picture of Iran, the flag of the country, and the mysterious words “MCSM Iran Hacking”.
Town officials were unclear whether the hacks were the work of a local prankster or if the Iranian government was involved.
According to town clerk Jean-Marie Mark, the image showed up a week ago on the site.
Web administrators were able to remove it by Friday, but the image resurfaced over the weekend.
“If I shut it down, it will cut off e-mail access to our employees. It’s frustrating,” sun-Sentinel.com quoted Mark, as saying.
Meanwhile, Mayor Carmen McGarry said that she hopes it was just a random act and not anything nefarious.
“Maybe our security isn’t up to what it’s supposed to be. We may have to rebuild the whole website,” McGarry said. (ANI)
