BADAUN - A local court here on Tuesday directed the police to register an FIR against Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Azam Khan on the charge of sedition for his controversial remarks on Kashmir.
Chief Judicial Magistrate Pawan Pratap Singh gave the order on an application filed by Bajrang Dal leader U Gupta on January 3.
The court has asked the police to register the FIR under Section 124(A) (Sedition) of IPC and submit its report.
Khan at a rally in Badaun on December 21, 2010, said that Ghulam Nabi Azad is the lone Muslim cabinet minister in the UPA Government, but he is a ‘Kashmiri’.
“There is only one Cabinet Minister named Ghulam Nabi Azad and that too he is not from India, but Kashmir, in that Kashmir where the whole issue is that whether it is a part of India or not,” said Khan. (ANI)
