NEW DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- It seems unlikely that the winter woes of New Delhi residents is going to subside anytime soon. With the freezing temperature that Northern India including the national capital is facing for the past few days, city dwellers are finding it increasing hard to cope with the cold waves which has gripped extensive parts of the country. As the mercury continued to drop even further, as many as 13 deaths due to the cold wave has been confirmed across Northern part of the nation.
On Tuesday morning, New Delhi witnessed its lowest temperature of the season when the mercury dipped to 3.7C. However, later things failed to take a better turn as the temperature continued to remain somewhere around 4C claiming more lives while the normal lives were left paralyzed. Owing to the dipping temperatures, schools in the national capital have been suspended for this week and would be resuming next week if the weather conditions improve. While talking to journalists, Arvinder Singh Lovely, the Education Minister of New Delhi said that the government decided to shut the schools till Sunday after a number of parents as well as schools requested for closure due to the ‘extreme weather conditions.’
Despite the freezing temperatures, it seems unlikely that the New Delhi residents would have any respite any time soon as the weather office has confirmed that the cold wave would continue to wreck a havoc at least for this week. On Thursday, the minimum temperature would continue to hover around 4C, further adding to the winter woes of the North-Indians.
