DELHI, INDIA (GaeaTimes.com)- The cold wave that has gripped the Northern states of India is taking its toll on the capital of India as well. The residents of Delhi are shivering in extreme cold and the abysmally low temperature in the city has made life tougher for the poor. The thick fog that is seen in the morning is throwing transport and flight operations out of gear. The minimum temperature dropped to 3.7 degrees on Tuesday sending the residents bracing their winter garments. It was a sharp drop from Monday’s temperature. Indian Meteorological Department said that the cold weather is likely to continue for some time. Even the maximum temperature is not likely to cross 15 degree mark in the next few days as the Met office has predicted.
The temperature in Delhi was on the lower side on Sunday as well owing to a wind blowing at nearly 30kmph. This made the environment colder than what it was. The met office spokespersons said that the north winds are cold and dry since they originate from mountain regions. They keep the fog at bay and make the capital colder. Owing to the weather and possibility of Fog the IGI airport at New Delhi may stick with the CAT-IIIA flight conditions.
While the residents of Delhi are shivering owing to the temperature that is going downwards the passengers availing flights are also having a tough time. The fare of afternoon flights at Delhi airport have gone up and the fliers are at the receiving end. The travel agents admitted the sharp hike in plane fares is owing to the fog in North India.
