WASHINGTON (GaeaTimes.com)- Capt. Owen Honors, the former commander of USS Enterprise came under the scanner, after a reputed media outlet showed the video footage consisting explicit gay slurs, mimics of masturbation, bathing of service members and also several other sexual innuendos. These videos were shown to 6,000 crew members of USS Enterprise in 2006-2007 when Owen Honors was the second-in-command officer. Navy Fleet Forces Command’s four star head Adm. John Harve ordered to launch an investigation few days ago when he saw the raunchy video. The U. S. Navy spokesman commander Chris Sims said that the Captain will be temporarily relieved on Tuesday as the Navy officials will conduct an investigation about the matter.
Chris Sims told that the senior officers have not yet decided about Owen Honors, however, if he is proven guilty, then he might be suspended from his post. On the other hand, on the social networking page USS Enterprise, many members came up in Owen Honors‘ defense and they stated that those videos were shown to boost their morale. Gordon Wilcox, one of the crew members took to the social networking site to state that Owen Honors showed those videos to lighten up their stressful job. Shaun Valentine, another crew member wrote that some political “correctness” should not ruin the career the Captain.
Chief Petty Officer Andrew Hodyl also stated that those videos provided “comic relief” to the team and brought smiles in the faces of tired crew members. However, Chris Sims stated that those videos were “inappropriate” and U.S. Navy do not endorse these kinds of videos. Owen Honors was not available for any comments.
