MUMBAI - Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh lashed out at the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying that its leaders are involved in various conspiracies.

Talking to reporters here on the sidelines of a function, Digvijay Singh said Swami Asimanand, who is accused of Mecca Masjid blast, is the man who has plotted all the conspiracies and they were executed with the active support of the Gujarat government.

“About Swami Asimanand, I will say that, he is the man who has plotted all the conspiracies and to whom Gujarat government has given millions of rupees as help,” Singh added.

He said he was seen on the stage with RSS Chief Sudarshan and the current Chief Mohan Bhagwat.

He also said that investigation should be conducted into the murder of RSS activist Sunil Joshi, the mastermind behind the 2007 Ajmer blast.

“People who were arrested in the murder case of Joshi were the foot soldiers of RSS and investigation should be conducted either by CBI or NIA.”

Earlier, Digvijay Singh had revealed that Maharashtra ATS chief Hemant Karkare, who was gunned down by militants in the 26/11 attack, called him just hours before attack and said that his life was “blighted by constant threats” from those opposed to his probe into the Malegaon blast.

Singh said: “On November 26, 2008, at 7 .pm, just about two hours before the attacks in Mumbai started, Hemant Karkare, rang me on my mobile and told me how his family and his life were blighted by constant threats from people annoyed by his investigations into the Malegaon blasts.”

Karkare was probing Malegaon blast, in which Sadhvi Pragya Singh is the prime suspect. (ANI)
