PYONGYANG - North Korea has accused the United States of being responsible for bringing the Korean Peninsula on the brink of war for its own personal motives, according to the country’s official KCNA news agency.

Xinhua quoted the agency report as saying that Washington is “entirely to blame for the situation” on the Korean Peninsula because it used the peninsula to realize its strategy to dominate East Asia.

The North further accused the United States, Japan and South Korea for stepping up moves to strengthen their military alliance and ignite a war against Pyongyang, and added that they are responsible for “a grave action of aggression quite contrary to the global trend for peace.”

These three nations demonstrated “unprecedented joint actions” in reacting to the Cheonan warship case and the island shelling incident by employing “every means and method to add fuel to fire” to escalate the conflict, it said.

It also urged the international community to take urgent steps in order to establish peace and stability in the region, it added. (ANI)
