SRINAGAR - The Jammu and Kashmir Government on Wednesday withdrew the ban on Short Messaging Services (SMS) for the customers using post-paid mobile phone, but the ban on sending of bulk messages remained in force.

According to reports, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who reviewed the overall state of affairs along with senior officials as well as intelligence agency sleuths, took the decision in this regard.

Earlier in June, the government had put a restriction on the SMS facility following widespread unrest in the Valley region.

The State Government has asked mobile service operators to allow SMS services from all post-paid phones, which is good news for the mobile users as it comes just nine days ahead of the New Year. (ANI)
