UP police arrests Samajwadi Party deputy in Allahabad

ALLAHABAD - Uttar Pradesh Police arrested a Samajwadi Party deputy Raghuraj Pratap Singh, alias Raja Bhaiya, here over the weekend.

Singh, representing Kunda constituency in the state assembly, has been charged with beating up Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supporters.

Singh was arrested by the Pratapganj police from the guesthouse where he was staying.

Besides Singh, MP Shailendra Kumar and another deputy Vinod Kumar Saroj have also been arrested from elsewhere. They all belong to the Samajwadi Party.

According to police, they had allegedly beaten up the supporters of a BSP candidate on Saturday ahead of block head election due to take place on Wednesday.

So far, police has arrested 11 people on charges of kidnapping, dacoity and violence. By Virendra Pathak(ANI)
