ISLAMABAD - US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman, Admiral Mike Mullen, has urged Pakistan to launch an operation to crack down on Al-Qaeda-linked terrorists in North Waziristan.

“They are weakening the American-led military effort in the nine-year-old Afghanistan war against the Taliban and Al-Qaeda, and they are killing Pakistani civilians as they seek to undermine the government in Islamabad,” the Nation quoted Mullen, as saying.

“We will update each other and where we stand on certain issues,” he added.

Mullen further denied reports that secret operations were being conducted by American forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

“The US forces were not conducting any operation at the Afghan border with the assistance of Pakistani forces,” Mullen said.

The US admiral also reiterated that the Obama administration respected Pakistan’s sovereignty. (ANI)
