Hoirose Silthou crowned as ‘Orange Queen-2010′ in Manipur’s beauty contest

TAMENGLONG - Hoirose Silthou, a college going girl, was crowned as the ‘Orange Queen-2010′ at the recently held Orange Festival in Manipur’s Tamenglong District.

Hoirose, who beat 34 contestants, bagged rupees one lakh as the cash prize and other gift hampers in the festival that was held on Tuesday.

The Orange Queen said she is elated to have won the most prestigious title in the State.

“It is actually an honour to be crowned as ‘Orange Queen’ because it is one of the state level competitions that we have here. People from across the globe came over to participate in the contest and have contributed their hundred percent and being a winner from that is a big thing,” said Silthou.

Ranupati came second to finish first runner, while Makulinliu Golmei emerged as the second runner up.

The first and second runners were awarded cash prizes of 75,000 and 50,000 rupees respectively.

Other sub-titles awarded at the pageant included Miss Congeniality, Miss Beautiful Smile, Miss Photogenic, Miss Beautiful Skin, Miss Perfect Ten and Best Catwalk among others.

The beauty pageant was a part of the Orange Festival 2010, an initiative of the Manipur Horticulture Department.(ANI)
