Close encounter for landing passenger jets at San Francisco airport

LONDON - Two passenger jets approaching the dual runways of San Francisco International Airport for parallel landings looked like they were about to collide with one another.

From the picture taken, it looked like passengers from both jets could see one another’s faces through the windows, though in reality the fuselages of the planes are at least 750ft apart.

The illusion of their close proximity has been put down to a trick of the camera lens.

“It was pretty cool to see a parallel landing where the two planes matched their speed for the entire approach and landing,” the Daily Mail quoted photographer Ben Wang, an aerospace engineer from San Jose, California, as saying. (ANI)
