Pakistan should know that terrorism is not a means to an end: Merkel

BERLIN - German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Saturday, in no uncertain terms, castigated Pakistan for using terror to propagate its political ends.
At a joint press interaction organized here with visiting Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, Merkel said: “Pakistan must realize that terror is not a means to an end, and, it should not use terror to solve its political problems.”
She further said that Germany would extend its fullest cooperation to India in battling terrorism.
She said: “India is suffering from terrorism, and Germany, will do all it can to see that terrible attacks like the one in Mumbai on 26/11 are never repeated.” mphasising the close cooperation between India and Germany in combating global terror, Merkel said: “We are working with India to do whatever we can to see that such terror acts do not take place.”
The German Chancellor said that during her one-to-one talks with the Indian Prime Minister and the delegation-level talks that followed, the situation in the Afghanistan-Pakistan region was discussed in great detail, as also the future of enhancing security in South Asia.
Merkel said that India and Germany share a close strategic relationship based on mutual trust and cooperation. By Smita Prakash(ANI)
